Foyle Women’s Information Network AGM

Thursday (Feb 26th) saw Foyle Women’s Information Network holding their AGM in the Holywell Building, Bishop Street.



Following a welcome from FWIN Co-ordinator, Catherine Cooke, there was ‘An Audience With The Lady Mayors’.Catherine chaired an open and frank discussion with current Mayor Brenda Stevenson and former Mayor Mildred Garfield, then opened the floor to questions.

This was followed by the launch of Women Into Politics by Patricia Lewsley-Mooney.

There was also an update on the Women’s Regional Consortium delivered by FWIN staff members Rosie McCann and Maureen Fox.

Following on from these discussions the AGM began in earnest, chaired by Joanna Boyd, Women’s Officer with Derry City Council. The meeting began with minutes and apologies from the previous AGM. This was followed by the Chairperson’s Report, given by Vice-Chair of FWIN Mildred Garfield, the Co-ordinator’s Report given by Catherine Cooke and the Financial Report given by Steven Lyndsey from Moore Stephens (NI) LLP. The committee elections were then held.

Catherine Cooke, FWIN Co-ordinator, said: “This was FWIN’s 20th AGM and it was an extremely successful event.

“I’d like to thank the two lady mayors that took part in our discussion – Brenda Stevenson and Mildred Garfield. They were open and honest and made it a very interesting event for everyone attending.

“I also want to thank Patricia Lewsley-Mooney who launched the Women Into Politics Programme at the event. And I’d also like to thank Steven Lyndsey from Moore Stephens (NI) LLP, who gave our Financial Report.

“Finally I’d like to thank FWIN’s committee and all our members, who have supported us throughout the past year.”
